The third quarter of 2022 saw an average occupancy rate for the Hawaii timeshare industry of 92.7%, up 6.6% points from the 86.1% occupancy recorded for the third quarter of 2021. Timeshare occupancy in the state went above pre-pandemic levels for the first time, surpassing Q3 2019’s 92.1% occupancy during the quarter. Every county recorded timeshare occupancy levels above 90% for the quarter, which was last attained in Q2 2018. The State of Hawai’i Department of Economic Development & Tourism (“DBEDT”) cited STR, Inc. data showing that occupancy in the state’s traditional hotel and condominium hotel market was 77.4% for the third quarter of 2022.
